Surely R'Simeon B'Lakish has said that if the lung was pierced after he had cut the windpipe [but before he had cut the gullet], the slaughtering was valid.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' For as soon as the windpipe has been cut the slaughtering has been completed with regard to it; hence any defect which occurs subsequently in any organ which is directly connected with or attached to the windpipe is of no consequence.');">⁹</span>
