לעולם אינו חייב אלא על שפחה בעולה בלבד שנאמר

As to R'Ishmael, it is plausible that 'redeemed, she is not [redeemed]' may be interpreted as a common parlance, but whence do we learn that she was betrothed to a Hebrew slave? - It is written, For she was not free; he, however, was free.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' The Hebrew was not the perpetual possession of his master; he is to be freed after six years.');">²³</span>
