מאי לאו אסון ממש לא דין אסון איכא דאמרי איתיביה רבי יוחנן לר"ל (שמות כא, כב) ולא יהיה אסון ענוש יענש מאי לאו דין אסון לא אסון ממש
Does this not refer to the law concerning “harm”? No, it refers to real “harm.” Some say: R. Yohanan raised an objection against Resh Lakish: [It is written] “And if no harm follows, he shall be surely fined.” Does this not refer to the law concerning “harm”? No, it refers to real “harm.”
