Raba said: This is Beth Shammai's reason, [viz. ,] that the daughters of Israel should not be treated as hefker.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' V. Glos., which is acquired without much trouble; thus to acquire a woman by merely a perutah would be derogatory to her status.');">⁷</span> AND BETH HILLEL RULE, BY A PERUTAH.
