R. Eliezer the people acted in accordance with the ruling of R. Joshua, but after the passing away of R. Eliezer, R. Joshua re-introduced the earlier practice.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Lit., 'restored the thing to its old (state)', when the practice was in agreement with the view of R. Eliezer.
