ואימא כל חד וחד כי שחיט זמן שחיטה אמר רחמנא
Fo the School of R'Ishmael taught: As a reward for [the observance of] the three 'firsts'<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' The 'first' of Passover, the 'first' of Tabernacles, and the taking of the four species (v. 40) on the 'first' day of Tabernacles.');"><sup>20</sup></span> they [Israel] merited three firsts:<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Three things in connection with which 'first' is written.');"><sup>21</sup></span>
