דתניא ר' יוסי אומר ועשה מאחת מהנה פעמים שחייב אחת על כולן פעמים שחייב על כל אחת ואחת

'One transgression may involve liability for a number of sacrifices [i.e., "one" = "them"]' — e.g., if one knew that it was the Sabbath [and that some work is forbidden on the Sabbath] — but was unaware that these particular acts are forbidden;<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Hence, though he violated only one injunction, viz., the sacredness of the Sabbath, yet since he was ignorant of each of these acts, he is regarded as having committed a number of separate inadvertent transgressions, for each of which a sacrifice is due.
