השתא לריש לקיש כפיפת קומתו לרבנן לא הוי מעשה הקשת זרועותיו דבעל אוב הוי מעשה

— But Raba said: It [i.e., the Ba'al ob in Kerithoth] refers to one who &nbsp; &nbsp; burns incense as a charm.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' To exorcise the demons (Jast.). Rashi reverses the interpretation: to call up the demons, that they may assist him in his sorcery. This is not idolatry, for the demons are not thereby worshipped as divinities, but it comes under the heading of Ba'al 'ob. ');">¹³</span>
