א"ר חייא בר אבויה כל הבא על הכותית כאילו מתחתן בעבודת כוכבים דכתיב ובעל בת אל נכר וכי בת יש לו לאל נכר אלא זה הבא על הכותית
of the daughters of Israel;<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Deut. XXIII, 18. ');"><sup>7</sup></span> and hath been intimate with the daughter of a strange god, — this refers to intimacy with a heathen woman. Now, this verse is followed by, The Lord will cut off the men that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the Lord of Hosts.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Mal. II, 12. ');"><sup>8</sup></span>
