(במדבר טז, ב) ויקומו לפני משה ואנשים מבני ישראל חמשים ומאתים מיוחדים שבעדה קריאי מועד שהיו יודעים לעבר שנים ולקבוע חדשים אנשי שם שהיה להם שם בכל העולם
they were the most distinguished men of the community; chosen for the appointed times:<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' So translated here. E.V. 'famous in the congregation'.
