א"ר יוחנן בערכאות שבסוריא שנו אבל מומחים לא

For Rab Judah said in the name ofRab: Witnesses may not sign a deed unless they are aware who is to sign withthem:<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' I.e., who is the other witness. The reason is that the other witness may prove to be unfit, in which case both signatures are null, and the eligible signatory is thus put to shame. ');">¹⁶</span>
