תנן עד אחד אומר ראיתי את ההורג ושנים אומרים לא ראית היו עורפין הא חד וחד לא היו עורפין תיובתא דרבי חייא
Now that you admit that one witness is believed, how is it possible for another individual to contradict him? Surely 'Ulla has said: Wherever the Torah accepts the testimony of one witness, he is regarded as two [witnesses], but the evidence of one is not regarded as the evidence of two!<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' But according to the Mishnah, if one is contradicted by one, the former is not accepted and the neck is broken. ');"><sup>7</sup></span>
