אריב"ל כל העולם כולו מתמצית גן עדן הוא שותה שנאמר (בראשית ב, י) ונהר יוצא מעדן וגו' תנא מתמצית בית כור שותה תרקב:

R'Oshaia said: What is the meaning of the verse, O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures?<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Jer. LI, 13.');">¹⁵</span> What has brought it about that Babylon's treasures are full of corn? Because it dwells by many waters.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Being a low-lying country it is well irrigated and consequently it needs but little rain.');">¹⁶</span>
