הרי ממזר דאי וכתביה קרא דאי לאיסורא כתב דאי להיתרא לא כתב

would not have written of a case of 'when'.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' I.e., of a possibility that a person might transgress and thus produce a generation that will be fit. ');"><sup>5</sup></span> Behold the case of the bastard which is one of 'when'<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' The assumption of a bastard's birth is dependent on the possibility that someone will commit an offence. ');"><sup>7</sup></span> — It wrote of a 'when' [leading] to a prohibition;<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' The case of the bastard was stated in order to forbid his entry into the assembly. ');"><sup>8</sup></span>
