ת"ש הלינו לכבודו לשמע עליו עיירות להביא לו מקוננות להביא לו ארון ותכריכין אינו עובר עליו שכל העושה אינו אלא לכבודו של מת ה"ק כל העושה לכבודו של חי אין בו בזיון למת

— No: for the honour of theliving. And for the sake of the honour of the living the dead is to be keptovernight! — Yes When did the Merciful One say, His body shall not remainall night upon the tree,<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Deut. XXI, 22, in connection with the criminal from whom this procedure has been deduced for all other dead. ');"><sup>9</sup></span> only in acase similar to be hanged, where it [the keeping of the corpse] involvesdisgrace;<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' I.e., the longer the body remains exposed, the greater the disgrace; and even in the case of an ordinary person, if the funeral is delayed without cause, but simply out of neglect, it is likewise accounted a disgrace to the dead, therefore it is forbidden.
