בעון שפיכות דמים בית המקדש חרב ושכינה מסתלקת מישראל שנאמר (במדבר לה, לג) ולא תחניפו וגו' ולא תטמא את הארץ אשר אתם יושבים בה אשר אני שוכן בתוכה הא אתם מטמאים אותה אינכם יושבים בה ואיני שוכן בתוכה:
