The Rabbis did not know what was meant by we-tetethia bematate of destruction,<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Isa. XIV, 23. E.V. 'I will sweep it with the besom of destruction'.');">⁹</span> till one day they heard the handmaid of the household of Rabbi say to her companion, Take the tatitha [broom] and tati [sweep] the house.
