Stoning is severer than strangulation, since it is the penalty of the blasphemerand the idol worshipper, the enormity of whose offence has already been stated.On the contrary, is not strangulation severer, since it is the punishmentof one who smites his father or mother, the greater seriousness of whoseoffence lies in the fact that their honour is assimilated to that of theOmnipresent?<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Cf.
