Now what does shetuki mean here? Is it to say that he is “silenced” from the property of his father? This is obvious! Do we even know who his father is? Rather it means that he is silenced from the rights of being a priest, for it is written: “And it shall be for him and for his seed after him the covenant of an everlasting priesthood” (Numbers 2513): ne whose seed legitimately descends from him, excluding this one, whose seed does not descend from him.
