This is at variance with the statement of Rafram b. Pappa who said in the name of Rab Hisda : Since the Temple was destroyed, the firmament has never been seen in its purity ; as it is said, "I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering" (Is. 1. 3).
