על כבודו דחכם לא עביד איסורא עבד:

Said Rabina to R'Ashi: But perhaps [the animal] belongs to an Israelite and Rab Judah ruled: A firstling of an Israelite must not be examined unless a priest is present?<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Lit., 'with him'. The reason is because we fear that when the blemish is pronounced a permanent one, he will eat it himself and deprive the priest of his due.');">²⁰</span>
