Commentary for Berakhot 106:3

מיתיבי היתה לו נר טמונה בחיקו או בפנס או שראה שלהבת ולא נשתמש לאורה או נשתמש לאורה ולא ראה שלהבת אינו מברך עד שיראה שלהבת וישתמש לאורה

Against this is quoted : If he had a light hidden in his bosom or in a lantern or saw a flame but made no use of its light or used its light without seeing its flame, he must not say the benediction until he sees the flame and makes use of its light !
