מקום שאמרו להאריך אינו רשאי לקצר לקצר אינו רשאי להאריך לחתום אינו רשאי שלא לחתום שלא לחתום אינו רשאי לחתום:

[where they order] to say a short benediction, it is not permissible to say a long one. [Where they order] to "seal " a benediction, it is not permissible not to "seal" ; [where they order] not to "seal," it is not permissible to "seal."
