(במדבר יט, ג) ושחט אותה אמר רחמנא ולא אותה וחבירתה והיכי דמי

This is surely obvious! - It was necessary to state the clause, 'If another animal was [accidentally] slaughtered with it' in order to set forth R'Nathan's view.
