דכתיב (במדבר כז, כא) ולפני אלעזר הכהן יעמד ולא אשכחן דאיצטריך ליה יהושע

his priestly gifts to one priest [only] brings famine into the world. For it is said in Scripture: Ira the Jairite was priest to David.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' II Sam. XX, 26.');">⁴⁵</span> Now was he priest to David alone and not to all the world?<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Of course not. A priest obviously enjoys that dignity before all 'Ben.');">⁴⁶</span>
