ופשיטנא ליה מהא עולה עמו ואינה יורדת עמו אמר רב הונא מאי קראה (בראשית כ, ג) והיא בעולת בעל בעלייתו של בעל ולא בירידתו של בעל ר' אלעזר אמר מהכא (בראשית ג, כ) כי היא היתה אם כל חי לחיים ניתנה ולא לצער ניתנה:

And we solved his problem from this: She rises with him but does not go down with him. Huna said: What is the Scriptural proof? “For she is a man’s wife” (Genesis 20:3) [she is to participate] in the rise of her husband but not in his descent. Elazar said: [The proof is] from here: “Because she was the mother of all living” (Genesis 3:20) she was given for life but for suffering.
