אמר רב הונא אמר רבי פרנסה אינה כתנאי כתובה מאי אינה כתנאי כתובה אי נימא דאילו פרנסה טרפא ממשעבדי ותנאי כתובה לא טרפא ממשעבדי מאי קמ"ל הא מעשים בכל יום מוציאין לפרנסה ואין מוציאין למזונות

Huna said in the name of Rabbi: [The right to] a dowry is not the same as the conditions in a ketubah. What is meant by “is not the same as the conditions in a ketubah”? If we say that whereas for the dowry she may seize encumbered property, whereas for conditions in the ketubah she may not seize encumbered property, what would this teach us? Surely it is a daily occurrence [that pledged property] is seized for dowry but not for maintenance!
