Commentary for Ketubot 137:3

רב תרוייהו קמבעיא ליה וסבר אי כתיבנא ליה מכרו הא ניחא אי שלח לי דמוציאין כל שכן משכנו אי שלח לי אין מוציאין אכתי משכנו קמיבעיא לי

Rav wanted to ask about both cases and he thought: If I write to him “sold,” I will be satisfied if he were to send [in reply] that “they may seize [the estate],” since the same ruling would apply with even greater force to the case where they pledged [the estate]. If, however, he were to send me in reply that “they may not seize” I would still need to ask about a case where they pledged it.
