Commentary for Ketubot 172:11

רבי אליעזר אומר אע"פ שלא הושיבה חנוונית ולא מינה אפוטרופיא הרי זה משביעה כל זמן שירצה שאין לך אשה שלא נעשית אפוטרופיא שעה אחת בחיי בעלה על פילכה ועל עיסתה אמרו לו אין אדם דר עם נחש בכפיפה שמע מינה לכתחלה שמע מינה:

Eliezer said: Even though he did not set her up as his shopkeeper and did not appoint her as his guardian, he may nevertheless impose upon her an oath wherever he desires to do so, because there is no woman who was not a guarding for a short time, at least, during the lifetime of her husband, in respect of her spindle and her dough. Learn from this that he allows him to impose an oath on her at any time.
