שלח ליה רבה בריה דרבא לרב יוסף מוכרת שלא בב"ד צריכה שבועה או אין צריכה שבועה ותבעי לך הכרזה

Rabbah the son of Rava sent to R. Joseph [the following enquiry:] Is a woman who sells [her deceased husband’s estate] without [the authorization] of the court required to take an oath or is she not required to take an oath? Why don’t you ask whether a public announcement [is required]?
