א"ל ר' יוחנן לא ניחא למרייהו דאמרת להו הכי ההוא במרפה עצמו לעבודת כוכבים הוא דכתיב א"ל מקרא אחר אני דורש דכתיב (ישעיהו כו, יט) כי טל אורות טליך וארץ רפאים תפיל כל המשתמש באור תורה אור תורה מחייהו וכל שאין משתמש באור תורה אין אור תורה מחייהו

Yohanan said to him: It is not pleasing to their Master that you should speak to them in this manner. That text was written of a man who was lax as to worshiping idols. He replied: I was expounding on another text. For it is written, “For your dew is as the dew of light, and you make the land of the shades come to life” (Isaiah 26:19). He who makes use of the ‘light’ of the Torah, the light of the Torah will resurrect him, but he who does not make use of the light of the Torah, the light of the Torah will not resurrect him.
