Commentary for Ketubot 36:1

ובכולה בעי דלודי ליה והאי דלא אודי ליה כי היכי דלישתמיט ליה וסבר עד דהוה לי זוזי ופרענא ליה ורחמנא אמר רמי שבועה עליה כי היכי דלודי ליה בכוליה

He would like to admit that he owes the whole debt, and the reason he does not admit, is that he would like to elude him [for the time being]. And he thinks, “as soon as I will have money I will pay it,” and [therefore] the Torah said: Impose an oath on him, so that he should admit the whole of it.
