ושמואל למה לי לקדושי בבי כנישתא לאפוקי אורחים ידי חובתן דאכלו ושתו וגנו בבי כנישתא
And [according to] Samuel, why must he recite kiddush in the synagogue?<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Seeing that one's duty is not fulfilled thereby in any case.');"><sup>1</sup></span> - In order to acquit travellers of their obligation, for they eat, drink, and sleep in the synagogue.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Not actually in the synagogue, but in adjoining rooms (Tosaf. on the basis of Meg. 28a) .
