He may spread them out in the sun, but not in the sight of people; R. Eleazar and R. Simeon forbid it.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' This refers to one whose garments are accidentally wetted on the Sabbath. The first Tanna forbids them to be spread out in the sight of the people, lest they suspect him of having washed them on the Sabbath, yet he permits it to be done privately, thus agreeing with the Baraitha just quoted.
