ואמר אביי אמרה לי אם לאשתא בת יומא לישקול זוזא חיוורא וליזיל למלחתא וליתקול מתקליה מילחא ולצייריה בחללא דבי צואר בנירא ברקא

And if [this was] not [possible], they would bring the sealing clay of a wine vessel and soak it in water and say, 'Just as this clay becomes clear, so let So-and-so's wine become clear.'<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' This is an instance of sympathetic magic. ');">¹⁸</span>
