Commentary for Sukkah 88:17

In the Temple - [the mitzvah of the willow branch in the Temple] is halakhah given by Moses from Sinai.

The willow branch requires a measure - Its measure is expounded upon below.

And what is [its] measure? - As they said above, [the willow branch] requires a [certain] measure.

Three branches - upon all of which are moist leaves.

Aivu - the father of Rav.

He waved, he waved - an expression for "shaking."

I have villages - villages and their residents.

And they hoe in the groves - They hoe the groves in the seventh [year].

Rabbi Eliezar bar Tzadok said, "Already I have lived" - "Already forty years have passed that I have lived in this land."

Declare the olives ownerless for the poor (hashokhaya) - for the poor (ani'im).
