אמר חזקיה אמר קרא (שמות ל, כא) והיתה להם חק עולם לו ולזרעו לדורותם דבר המעכב בזרעו מעכב בו דבר שאינו מעכב בזרעו אין מעכב בו

[At that] his face lit up.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' R. Assi was very pleased with the answer.');">¹¹</span> Said he to him: I have written you a waw on a tree-trunk:<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' On which, owing to its rough lined surface the letter is not visible.
