יהודה בר נתן הוה שקיל ואזיל בתריה דרב המנונא אתנח אמר ליה יסורים בעי ההוא גברא לאתויי אנפשיה דכתיב (איוב ג, כה) כי פחד פחדתי ויאתיני ואשר יגורתי יבא לי והא כתיב אשרי אדם מפחד תמיד ההוא בדברי תורה כתיב:

R. Judah b. R. Nathan took up [his cloak] and followed Rabbi in the market-place of Tiberias. The latter noticed that he was afraid and sighed ; so he said, "That fellow wants sufferings to befall him ; for it is written, 'For the thing which I did fear is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of hath overtaken me' (Job iii. 25)." [He replied,] "But lo, it is written, 'Happy is the man who feareth always'!" "That is written in connection with words of Torah."
