תנו רבנן נותנין בול של מלח לתוך הנר בשביל שתאיר ותדליק ונותנין טיט וחרסית תחת הנר בשביל שתמתין ותדליק
R. Zutra said: He who covers an oil lamp or uncovers a naphtha [lamp] infringes the prohibition of wasteful destruction.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Derived from Deut. XX, 19, q.v. Because these cause the lamp to burn with unnecessary speed. ');"><sup>12</sup></span>
