מאי בתחלה דקאמר רבי יהושע בן לוי תחלת חופה ומאי סוף סוף ביאה וכי קאמינא אנא בין בזו ובין בזו מחלוקת תחלת חופה וסוף חופה דהיא תחילת ביאה

The “beginning” of which R. Joshua b. Levi spoke means the beginning of [the meeting in] the bridal chamber, and the “end” means the termination of the intercourse. And when I stated that the dispute remains in both cases [I meant] the beginning [of the meeting in] the bridal chamber and the end of that meeting which is the beginning of intercourse.”
