Levi, expounded: The Evil Inclination has seven names. 1) The Holy One, blessed be He, called it Evil, as it is said, “For the inclination of man’s heart is evil from his youth” (Genesis 8:21). 2) Moses called it a foreskin, as it is said, “Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart” (Deuteronomy 10:16). 3) David called it unclean, as it is said, “Create me a clean heart, O Lord,” (Psalms 51:12), which implies that there is an unclean one.
