Midrash for Taanit 3:9

מאי משמע אמר רבה בר שילא אתיא חקר חקר מברייתו של עולם

in [the benediction] 'Thou favourest man with knowledge'.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Ber. 33a.');"><sup>11</sup></span> [With that passage in mind] the Tanna now teaches: When do we [begin] to make mention of the Power of Rain?

Sifrei Devarim

Variantly: "and to serve Him": This is prayer. — But perhaps it is service, literally. It is, therefore, written "with all your heart." Now is there "service" in the heart? What, then, is the intent of "and to serve Him with all your heart? Prayer.
