וחומת יריחו שנבלעה: וחומת יריחו נבלעה והא נפלה שנאמר (יהושע ו, כ) ויהי כשמע העם את קול השופר ויריעו העם תרועה גדולה ותפל החומה תחתיה כיון דפותיה ורומה כי הדדי נינהו משום הכי אבלעה בלועי

"And the wall of Jericho which was swallowed up." And the wall of Jericho which was swallowed up ! Lo, it fell ! As it is said, "And it came to pass when the people heard the sound of the horn, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat" (Josh. vi. 20). Since its breadth and height were equal, it must in consequence have been swallowed up [in the earth].
