<big><strong>גמ׳</strong></big> ת"ר האומנין קורין בראש האילן ובראש הנדבך ומתפללין בראש הזית ובראש התאנה ושאר כל האילנות יורדים למטה ומתפללין ובעל הבית בין כך ובין כך יורד למטה ומתפלל לפי שאין דעתו מיושבת עליו

GEMARA Our Rabbis have taught : Workmen may read [the Shema'] on the top of a tree or on the top of scaffolding. They may likewise say the Tefillah on top of an olive-tree or fig-tree ; but with all other trees they must descend to the ground to say the Tefillah. The employer must in every instance descend to the ground to say the Tefillah, because his mind is not settled.
