Many pass there, and they will disturb your studies. Intent on their studies, they neglect the affairs of the town! Cf. Shab. 129a. Job I, 10. R. Akiba was kept in prison several years and then martyred for defying Hadrian's edict against practising and teaching Judaism, Ber. 61b; v. J.E. I, 3051. He did not wish to endanger him. He pleaded to be allowed to take the risk. If you must depend on an authority, see that he is a great one. A error learned in childhood is difficult to dispel.
