Musar for Pesachim 7:7

אמר רב נחמן בר יצחק בשעה שבני אדם מצויין בבתיהם ואור הנר יפה לבדיקה

They investigated and found that he was descended from Zebulun, for it is written, Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Ibid. 13.');"><sup>10</sup></span> And now that it is established that all agree that 'or' means evening, consider: according to both R'Judah and R'Meir,<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' v. Mishnah infra 11b.');"><sup>11</sup></span>

Mesilat Yesharim

The matter of "Zeal" is clear. It is the early engaging in mitzvot and their completion as the sages of blessed memory said: "the zealous are early to perform the mitzvot" (Pesachim 4a).

And they said: "zealous people do Mitzvot as early as possible" (Pesachim 4a). Likewise, they said: "a person should always run to perform a mitzva, even on the Sabbath".

Orchot Tzadikim

Zeal for the Torah and the commandments is a great quality, and so is zeal that aims to make a better world. And it is a quality of the righteous in the service of the Creator, may He be Blessed. Our Sages, of blessed memory, said : "The zealous are early to perform their religious duties" (Pesahim 4a).
