מכדי האי יהיו לרצון אמרי פי משמע לבסוף ומשמע מעיקרא דבעינא למימר מ"ט תקנוהו רבנן לאחר י"ח ברכות לימרו מעיקרא

Since the verse : "Let the words of my mouth be acceptable before Thee" might with equal propriety be said at the conclusion or the commencement [of the Tefillah], why did the Rabbis institute it at the end of the Eighteen Benedictions? Let it be said at the commencement!
