אמר ליה רבא לרב נחמן וכי מאחר דתנן מתניתין כוותיה דשמואל אמאי הלכתא כוותיה דרב אמר ליה לכאורה כשמואל רהיטא כי מעיינת בה הלכתא כוותיה דרב

Rava said to R. Nahman: Since, however, we have learned in a Mishnah in agreement with Shmuel, why does the halakhah agree with Rav? He said back: At first sight it seems to follow Shmuel, but if you examine it carefully [you will find that] the halakhah is in fact in agreement with Rav.
