והיינו דכתיב ושב אל המחנה אמר רבא אף על פי כן לא יצא הדבר לבטלה שנאמר (שמות לג, יא) ומשרתו יהושע בן נון נער לא ימיש מתוך האהל:

That is what is written, "And he would return into the camp." Raba said : Nevertheless the word did not go forth from Him in vain ; as it is said, "But his minister Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tent" (ibid.).
