אמר רבינא הוה קאימנא קמיה דרב יהודה מדפתי חזא צואה אמר לי עיין אי קרמו פניה אי לא א"ד הכי א"ל עיין אי מפלאי אפלויי

Rabina said : I was once standing before Rab Jeremiah of Difti ; he noticed some excrement, and he said to me, "See whether its surface has hardened or not." Another version is : He said to him, "See whether it has become cracked."
